Biochemical Engineering mainly deals with the design and construction of unit processes that involve biological organisms or molecules and Biotechnology is the discipline which combines Biology and technology.The sub fields of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering include genomics, development of pharmaceutical therapies,applied immunology and diagnostic tests to name a few. This discipline has its applications in health care, crop production and agriculture, crops and other products and environmental uses. Biochemical engineering is taught as a supplementary option to chemical engineering o biological engineering owing to the similarity in the discipline. This discipline is an amalgamation of Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering.
Core subjects are Bioprocess calculations,Inorganic and organic chemistry,Biochemistry,Chemical EngineeringMolecular Biology and Genetics,Microbiolog,Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics.
Biotechnology engineers can work for development of various medicines, vaccines, fertilizers etc. Biochemical Engineers can work in the industries of food, specialty chemicals, increase of productivity, improvement of quality of seeds,biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medicines etc.
