M.Tech in Transportation Engineering


This stream covers a wide range of topics which includes urban transportation systems planning, transportation economics, traffic engineering and management, traffic flow theory, computer aided modeling of traffic and transportation systems, Intelligent transportation systems, travel demand modeling, transportation system analysis focusing on energy and environment, network optimisation, urban public transportation, geometric design of highways, pavement material characterization; flexible and rigid pavement analysis and design; constitutive modeling of bitumen, modified bitumen and bituminous mixtures; stress analysis of layered structures; aging of binders, pavement design, pavement management, pavement evaluation, rural roads construction, use of alternate materials for flexible pavement construction, transportation terminals, railway engineering and waterway transportation.

Remuneration

Civil engineering is one of the highly rewarding field. Civil Engineers employed in government departments get their initial income around Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000 while superiors can earn about Rs 20,000. Lecturer/Professors in engineering colleges’ incomes are fixed by UGC. Those civil engineers working in private sector particularly in construction and designing field are getting more than Rs. 30,000 every month. With some experience they may go up to Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 every month. Consultancy in civil engineering is also highly remunerative depending upon number and nature of the clients.
