M.Tech in Computer Aided Design of Structures
Computer Aided Structural Engineering is an innovative program, focused on the combination of recent advances made in the field of structural engineering and computer science. This combination allows structural engineer the flexibility and freedom for a better understanding of structural behavior with material and geometric non-linearity and loading uncertainties.
The students join this program with a background in civil engineering. The course provides an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of structural engineering subjects. It also engages in a comprehensive study of computer science subjects such as programming, databases, graphics, visualization etc.
This course aims at molding a civil engineering graduate into a specialist in structural analysis and design. The course covers topics on advanced structural analysis. The design of different structures like bridges, high rise buildings, irrigational structures etc. are covered which makes the student capable enough to design any complicated structure with impeccable precision. The development of computational skills is also assured by imparting awareness on analysis and design tools like SAP, STAAD, STRAP, ANSYS, ETABS etc. Students are exposed to real world case studies in the field, by inspiring them to undergo industrial trainings outside campus.
The completion of this course enables a civil engineering graduate to be eligible as project managers as well as structural designers. The job opportunities for project managers and structural engineers are profuse in and abroad.
Objectives:
The objective of CASE programme is to include recent advances in the development and use of computer methods for the solution of scientific and engineering problems related to structures.

Course gives in-depth knowledge of mathematical modeling and computational methods in the areas of non-linear, static and dynamic analysis of structures. It also embraces computer-aided design including visualization and optimization methods.
