ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA
The qualifying
examinations prescribed for admission for B.E. is second PUC or 10+2 Higher
Secondary or equivalent examination recognized by State / Central Government;
the last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry, and
Mathematics with English as a compulsory subject.
The General Merit
candidates should have passed with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% in
respect of SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State) in Physics, Chemistry,
and Mathematics and should have passed these subjects individually. Physics and
Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or
Biology or Computer Science or Electronics as one of the optional subjects.
However, changes, if any, in the eligibility criteria by the AICTE will be
adopted.
An attempt in the COMED-K
Entrance Test seeking admission to Engineering courses is considered adequate
for figuring in the rank list.
Diploma candidates are not
eligible to take the Entrance Test as there are no lateral entry admissions.
Admission Process
1. For B.Tech in Chemical
Engineering, students need to clear an entrance exam for securing admission to
this course.
2. The syllabus for
COMED-K comprises of topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from class
XII. To get acquainted with the CBT format, the conducting body will also
release official COMEDK Mock Tests, available shortly at comedk.org. The exam
consists of 180 questions with 60 questions from each subject. Candidates will
have 3 hours to complete the exam. There will be a separate paper for
Mathematics and there is no negative marking. In COMED-K, the counselling for
2019 Engineering and Architecture would be through a centralized process at

3. K-CET will comprise of
3 papers, viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with 60 questions from
each.
4. You can always apply
through the Management quota instead of the COMED-K quota if your score in
COMED-K or K-CET is on the lower side. However, applying through the management
quota involves higher fees.
5. Diploma holders are not
eligible to take the Entrance Test as there are no lateral entry admissions.
6. JEE Mains is also
conducted for admission to B.Tech. ECE program in most prestigious institutes
of India. The skills tested in this exam are Physics, Chemistry, and
Mathematics.
7. JEE Advanced is for
students who clear the JEE (Mains) and want to take admission in IITs. The
questions in this exam are from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
8. For entrance into
private Universities in Bangalore and Karnataka, a candidate needs to clear
PESSAT, Uni-GAUGE, REVAUEE, Manipal University Entrance Test, etc. (for private
engineering colleges).

Candidates meeting all the eligibility criteria for
admission through COMED-K 2019 will go through 2 rounds of counselling.
Candidates up to the rank of 43,000 will be called up for the first round of
counselling while those ranking above 43,000 will be called up for the second

system. The first round will begin tentatively from June 28, while the second
round may commence from July.
